What MYOB is
MYOB is Australian accounting and business software. Small businesses use it for invoices, bills, bank feeds, payroll, and GST, and a lot of local bookkeepers have worked in it for years. It comes in a few versions, from simple online accounting for a sole trader up to larger products for businesses with stock and projects.
Like any accounting software, MYOB depends on what goes in. In most small teams, that still means someone typing.
How a small team uses it with AI
The jobs that eat time in MYOB are small and repeated. A supplier sends a PDF invoice, and someone types the supplier, the lines, the GST, and the due date. A week of online sales gets copied across. A client asks what they still owe, and someone runs a report and writes back.
We set up an AI helper (the industry calls it an agent) for one of those jobs first, usually the supplier bills. It reads each invoice from your inbox and drafts the entry in MYOB. Your bookkeeper checks and approves the drafts in one sitting instead of entering them one by one. We use the same pattern with Xero, where we work with a five-person homewares store that now approves 60 invoices a month in one sitting a week.
What we connect and build around it
- Connecting your tools (data pipelines), so sales and bills arrive in MYOB from your store, till, and inbox.
- Better instructions (prompt optimisation), so entries are coded the way your bookkeeper wants.
- A review step, so nothing is approved or paid without a person.
Where MYOB falls short
MYOB’s connections depend on which MYOB product you’re on, and older desktop files are harder to connect than the online versions. We check first, and we tell you if a connection isn’t possible on your setup. And no AI helper can tell you whether a supplier overcharged you. It can flag what looks odd, but the call is yours.
